RICH MEATY TASTE performs a wide variety of rock, blues, and country songs, ranging from classic hits of the 50's and 60's to current material. The group is fronted by Mark Reinhart on guitar and vocals. Reinhart's backing musicians include Fred Fochtman (harmonica, percussion, and vocals), Todd Berry (bass guitar and vocals), Brian Preston (keyboards, bass guitar and vocals), John Widner (guitar), Rob Fratianne (drums), and Joe Mamlin (drums/percussion). Over the past several years, a new musician has been added to the mix -- Mark's son Taylor has been performing with the band at selected shows on bass guitar and vocals.
RMT's original material is a unique blend of rock, country, swing, blues and funk, and has been featured on central Ohio radio stations such as WWCD 101, WCBE, and WBZX. RMT's first compact disc RMTCD was released in mid-1999, and it received praise from central Ohio publications such as COLUMBUS ALIVE, THIS WEEK, and ENTERTAINMENT COLUMBUS. The band's second compact disc RICHER MEATIER TASTIER was similarly well-received when it was released in March 2002. RMT released their third CD THANK YOU SO MUCH in 2006. The band's compact discs are available from online retailers such as iTunes, Amazon, and CD Baby. They are also available directly from the band at live performances.
RMT performs regularly at Plank's on Broadway in Grove City, Carsonie's Italian Restaurant in Westerville, and Benny's Pizza in Marysville. The band has also been featured at the Columbus Arts Festival, the Grandview Lazy Daze Festival, the Worthington Concert on the Green, the Columbus fireworks spectacular Red, White and Boom, and many private functions.
In addition to its usual repertoire, RMT has developed a unique American musical history program called SONGS OF AMERICA. A journey through over 200 years of U.S. musical history, SONGS OF AMERICA consists of performances of classic American musical works such as "Yankee Doodle," "Follow the Drinking Gourd," "When the Saints go Marchin' In," "This Land is Your Land," and "Fanfare for the Common Man." In 2003, the Greater Columbus Arts Council accepted RMT's SONGS OF AMERICA into their popular Artists-in-Schools program. Through Artists-in-Schools, the band has performed the show for thousands of central Ohio elementary school students over the past few years. In August 2008, NBC4 Columbus ran a television news story detailing the success of RMT's SONGS OF AMERICA performances. (Go to the bottom of this page for more details regarding SONGS OF AMERICA)
One novel aspect of the band's shows is that RMT playlists are made available to audience members, allowing them to easily choose songs that they want to hear -- RMT rarely relies on a prearranged setlist, instead structuring their show around the musical taste of a particular audience.
